The Staffing Director is responsible for managing the sourcing, vetting, and hiring for short-term field instructors positions across our international and domestic programming as well as supporting the professional network of our staff community.

Staff Recruitment & Selection: Sourcing, interviewing, and hiring excellent field instructors
– Initiating regular outreach to relevant organizations and job forums to source prospective instructors
– Managing the annual staffing timeline across Summer, Semester, Adult, College, and Partnership programs
– Maintaining excellent communication with all new applicants and the community of current and past instructors
– Conducting initial application review, applicant tracking, and first interviews
– Considering staffing needs across all departments and positions
– Informing final hiring decisions and pairings of staff teams along with Program Directors and Department Directors
– Coordinating employment offers and onboarding with H.R. staff
– Conducting reference and background checks
Staff Community Relations: Managing ongoing professional relationships with our current and alumni staff network
– Reviewing and assessing staff performance and feedback
– Responding to instructor requests in conjunction with H.R. staff
– Maintaining relationships with instructors to increase job satisfaction and retention
– Addressing individual and shared concerns from field staff
– Supporting organizational justice, inclusivity, and equity initiatives
– Overseeing the creation and distribution of a quarterly Staff Newsletter
– Assessing and managing requests for professional development
– Contributing to staff trainings and in-house professional development
– Managing professional profiles and community relationships on staffing social networks such as LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
– Program administration experience, such as H.R., staffing coordination, program direction/management, risk management, etc.
– Experience working across a range of cultures
– Experience working in a relevant field, such as experiential education, international guiding, youth programming, outdoor education, service learning, study abroad, etc.
– Commitment to Dragons mission, vision, and values
– Commitment justice, inclusivity, and equity as demonstrated by past job experience, personal activism, or other pertinent lived experience
– Ability to accept feedback graciously and integrate it into system/process improvement
– High degree of autonomy, personal initiative, intrinsic motivation, and self-management skills
– Experience working collaboratively and effictively on diverse teams or with a diverse range of people
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– High proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, networking platforms, and email management systems
– Acknowledgement that the work of international and experiential education carries inherent imbalances with regard to issues of race, class, gender, privilege and power, and a commitment to nurturing a community of critical self-reflection and awareness of these themes and the way they impact our work
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
– Commitment to effective communication and nurturing healthy professional relationships
– A demonstrated ability to create and manage dynamic tracking and project management systems (e.g., customer relationship management, Salesforce, Asana, WordPress, application portals, etc.)
– A high emotional intelligence and ability to discern others’ strengths and weaknesses
– A strong understanding of working in challenging environments, particularly in international and remote settings
– Skillfulness in cross-cultural education, mentorship, conflict resolution, facilitation, and leadership
TERMS AND REMUNERATION
– Full time (40 hours/week) preferred, but open to part time
– This position can either be based in Boulder or remote
– 2-4 weeks/year of travel (domestic and/or international)
– $45,000 to $60,000 USD annual starting salary range, commensurate with experience
